DMARDs and Rheumatoid arthritis – The Toxic Effects -under construction

The progression of rheumatoid arthritis(RA) can be retarded or halted by disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs). Next to inefficacy, toxicity limits their use. In one major study, 42% dropped out due to side effects and 36.6% due to inefficacy. Inefficacy means they did not work. This study refers to MTX as more toxic. They also state there was no significant difference in higher doses vs. low doses.

There were no significant differences in types and numbers of AE for high dose (>12.5 mg/week, n=89) compared with low dose (<10 mg/week, n=285) MTX, and high dose (>2 g/day, n=184) compared with low dose (<1.5 g/day, n=62) Abbreviations: AEs, adverse effects; DMARDs, disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs; MTX, methotrexate;  RA, rheumatoid arthritis. This morning what appears to be big pharma owned AOL put an article out promoting vaccination to combat the horrific side effects of Biologic and DMARS for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.  It was written by an author who also wrote a book that explains how to live with side effects. The ironic part is that you cannot live with the adverse effect when it is death. She is promoting the use of biologics and targeted synthetic DMARDs to treat Rheumatoid Arthritis drugs.

Meanwhile, the Natural Cure for rheometry arthritis that already exists is nowhere near the mainstream media.

RA is an inflammation-based autoimmune disease, and Dr. Terry Whal’s Protocol has reversed rheumatoid arthritis. Big pharma, of course, would rather you take these toxic drugs with horrific side effects.  They do not care if you can handle it or go blind. Then they will guide you through the process of taking medications to combat the side effects of the medicines though. Sometimes they will give you medication to relieve the symptoms caused by the medications.

This quack author we spoke of earlier wants you to get vaccinated. Guess what fuels and causes autoimmune diseases? Vaccination. You guessed it. Visit our page on vaccination and read some of the hundreds of studies linked to that correlate vaccination to autoimmune disease.

If you are entirely aware that these drugs are toxic and some of the studies on the drugs refer to them as toxic in the medical journals, you can skip this section of horrifying, life-threatening, debilitation side effects and go below to The Cure.

They say the real medicine is western toxic medicine. We say the real medicine is holistic. The allopathic industry has an alternative approach, not us. Holistic, natural medicine has been around for centuries. This deception of modern medicine is all big pharma pushed and created less than a hundred years ago.

42% Drop Out of Clinical Trail Due to Adverse Side Effects

Results: Adverse events were common reasons for treatment discontinuation (42% of treatments). In 70%, they were subjectively reported at the clinical visit, while substantial laboratory abnormalities were seen relatively rarely (9% of treatments: abnormal liver function tests in
5%; haematological abnormalities in 3%; impaired renal function in 1%). No single case of retinopathy from antimalarial drugs (that is, an incidence of <0.3 events/1000 patient-years) was found, although eye examinations by the specialists were abnormal 30 times per 1000 patient-years, mostly revealing keratopathy. Keratopathy, not that they say which one, is a disease of the cornea.

Methotrexate – Biologics And their extremely toxic side effects

Generic Rheumatrex- A biologic

This site says, Other commonly used DMARDs for RA include hydroxychloroquine and sulfasalazine, which can be prescribed alone or with methotrexate. These drugs tend to be a little weaker, but they have fewer side effects, Kaplan says.

They also state as fact, Serious infections, such as pneumonia, are the biggest risk of taking a biologic. This is absolutely FALSE! Beware.

Here are the facts about biologics that they blatenlty ignore. Read below and see if pneumonia is the serious one?

Although these can be present in up to 70% of patients, they are generally underreported in the literature. Therefore, the pathophysiological details of their development are often poorly understood. Herein we attempt to identify groups of biologicals to which a specific side effect profile can be assigned.

From the Arthritis Foundation Website  –  Methotrexate is one of the most effective and widely used medications for treating rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and other inflammatory types of arthritis. It’s also one of the safest arthritis drugs (?) insist rheumatologists, despite a common misconception among many patients and even some primary care physicians that methotrexate is highly toxic.

Says Dr. Yazici states on the Arthritis Foundations Website: “There’s no reason to be afraid of methotrexate.”

Keep reading to see why you should be very afraid. Here is an example. Low dose treatment has cause malignant lymphoma.

The Arthritis Foundation Website says the doses for R/A are much lower than for that of cancer. But in their book, pneumonia is a bigger risk than the cancer this drug can cause?

The Arthritis Foundation Website states – “By contrast, the doses used to treat leukemia and certain other types of cancer may be hundreds of times larger.”

The recommended dose for For rheumatoid arthritis or juvenile arthritis:

  • Adults—At first, 7.5 milligrams (mg) once per week.

The recommended dose for For cancer:

  • Adults—Dose is based on the type of cancer and body size and must be determined by your doctor. A dose of 10 to 30 milligrams (mg) once per day may be given for several days and then repeated after a rest period.
METHOTREXATE is a chemotherapy drug used to treat cancer and can also treat psoriasis and certain kinds of arthritis. Here is a list of some of the fewer side effects. Some are very serious and include death.
Did you know they consider less than 10% Rare? So don’t be fooled. Rare side effects are not rare. One in ten people die. Is that rare?

BLACK BOX WARNING

Appropriate Use

admin. only under supervision of physician experienced w/ antimetabolite tx; use only in life-threatening neoplastic dz or for severe, recalcitrant, disabling psoriasis or RA not responsive to other tx; deaths reported w/ use in malignancy, psoriasis, and RA; closely monitor for bone marrow, liver, lung, and kidney toxicities; caution w/ high dose osteosarcoma regimens, high dose regimens for other neoplastic dz are investigational w/o demonstrated therapeutic advantage

Appropriate Use for Intrathecal or High-Dose Tx

admin. only preservative-free INJ form for intrathecal or high-dose tx; preservative INJ form contains benzyl alcohol

Fetal Death/Congenital Abnormalities

Concomitant NSAID Use

unexpectedly severe and sometimes fatal myelosuppression, aplastic anemia, and GI toxicity reported w/ methotrexate (usually high dose) in combo w/ some NSAIDs

Hepatotoxicity

hepatotoxicity, fibrosis and cirrhosis generally only after prolonged use; acute LFT elevation common, usually transient and asymptomatic, not predictive of later hepatic dz; abnormal LFTs or sx may not precede fibrosis or cirrhosis in psoriasis pts, periodic liver biopsies recommended if chronic tx; persistent abnormal LFTs may precede fibrosis or cirrhosis in RA pts

Pulmonary Toxicity

GI Toxicity

diarrhea and ulcerative stomatitis require tx interruption, otherwise intestinal perforation may lead to hemorrhagic enteritis and death

Malignant Lymphoma

may occur w/ low-dose tx and may regress when D/C tx; if lymphoma does not regress when D/C tx, start appropriate cytotoxic tx

Tumor Lysis Syndrome

tumor lysis syndrome (TLS) may occur in pts w/ rapidly growing tumors; use appropriate supportive and pharmacologic measures to prevent or alleviate TLS

Skin Rxns

Opportunistic Infections

potentially fatal; incl. PCP

Concomitant Radiotherapy

incr. risk of soft tissue necrosis and osteonecrosis

Lithium Side Effects

Side Effects of Lithium.

A small but measurable percentage of lithium-treated patients will show progressive renal impairment. Infrequently, lithium will need to be discontinued because of the progressive renal insufficiency. Lithium-induced hypothyroidism is relatively common but easily diagnosed and treated. Hyperparathyroidism from lithium is a relatively more recently recognized phenomenon.

(Is it easy? Take a medication and have an easily diagnosed and easily treated hyperparathyroidism? That is a great way to look at it.)

(This part is significant too)  –  Thirst and excessive urination, nausea and diarrhea and tremor are rather common side effects that are typically no more than annoying even though they are rather prevalent.

(No more than annoying??)

Another Study showed that Approximately two-thirds of a group of bipolar patients attending the routine lithium clinic suffered side effects.

237 patients in long-term treatment

Two-Thirds had one or two complaints, and one fourth had three or more. About one-half of the patients complained of hand tremor, two-thirds of increase thirst, one-fifth of weight gain exceeding 10kg, one-fifth of diarrhea, and one-tenth of edema of legs or face.

Package Insert

There have been postmarketing reports of a possible association between treatment with lithium and the unmasking of Brugada Syndrome. Brugada Syndrome is a disorder characterized by abnormal electrocardiographic (ECG) findings and risk of sudden death.

Drugs such as Prozac can cause a condition known as akathisia, a condition of constant agitation. Akathasia commonly occurs in conjunction with suicidal thoughts, hostility, and violent behavior.

FDA-approved fluoroquinolones

levofloxacin (Levaquin), ciprofloxacin (Cipro), ciprofloxacin extended-release tablets, moxifloxacin (Avelox), ofloxacin, and gemifloxacin (Factive).

Updated Black-box Warnings for Fluoroquinolones

In July, 2016, the FDA made significant changes to the warning labels for all fluoroquinolone antibiotics (Cipro/ciprofloxacin, Levaquin/levofloxacin, Avelox/moxifloxacin, Floxin/ofloxacin, Noroxin/norfloxacin, and Factive/gemifloxacin). These label changes include black-box warnings for fluoroquinolones that state:

WARNING: SERIOUS ADVERSE REACTIONS INCLUDING TENDINITIS, TENDON RUPTURE, PERIPHERAL NEUROPATHY, CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM EFFECTS AND EXACERBATION OF MYASTHENIA GRAVIS

  • Fluoroquinolones, including CIPRO®, have been associated with disabling and potentially irreversible serious adverse reactions that have occurred together including:
    • Tendinitis and tendon rupture
    • Peripheral neuropathy
    • Central nervous system effects
  • Discontinue CIPRO immediately and avoid the use of fluoroquinolones, including CIPRO, in patients who experience any of these serious adverse reactions. Fluoroquinolones, including CIPRO, may exacerbate muscle weakness in patients with myasthenia gravis. Avoid CIPRO in patients with known history of myasthenia gravis.
  • Because fluoroquinolones, including CIPRO, have been associated with serious adverse reactions, reserve CIPRO for use in patients who have no alternative treatment options for the following indications:
    • Acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis
    • Acute uncomplicated cystitis
    • Acute sinusitis

Now Let’s Discuss the Cure to Rheumatoid Arthritis!

This clip is taken from Every Day Healths  Website and discusses how Dr. Terry Whal’s Protocol cured Rosa Martinez of her RA. She has not had a flare in seven years.

Since she started this diet seven years ago, Martinez hasn’t had a single RA flare. With no pain or inflammation, she can do all the things she loves: playing soccer with her sons, now 8 and 4, practicing yoga and meditation, and dancing regularly with her husband.

Her primary care doctor — who had cautioned her not to expect the diet to be helpful — now says her blood work is perfect.

“The Wahls Protocol has shown me that food indeed can be medicine,” Martinez says. “Because of this eating plan, there’s nothing I can’t do now. I am once again who I always knew I could be.”

RA is an inflammation-based disease. An anti-inflammatory diet is a big part of the cure for RA. I have arthritis, but not the rheumatoid version. I cured my pain many years ago when I got healthy. I started an anti-inflammatory diet, also having six herniated disks, I stopped limping in about two weeks. I had eliminated all the foods that cause inflammation. When the pain diminished so significantly, I started adding in things that reduce inflammation in the body, such as ginger root, turmeric, and green tea.  I went from having a tens unit on my hip and sometimes not standing to do dishes to rebuilding houses. I rebuilt my own home by myself, including laying down a patio around the pool I restored, and the pavers had to be 20- 25lbs apiece. At the same time, I also cured my sluggish thyroid and my Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I also removed all toxic pesticides from my house and my body.
